My name is Jimmy Johnson, and my riding name is Coach.
I joined BSMCVA (Petersburg) in 2015.
I am a retired high school principal and basketball coach with 34 years of service in the Cumberland
County school system. I have been inducted into the Cumberland high school basketball hall of fame for
coaching (4 state championships in basketball), the Virginia State University sports hall of fame for track
and the Virginia high school league for coaching basketball.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical education and a master’s degree in Education
Administration/Supervision. I have studied at Virginia State University, Longwood University, Virginia
Commonwealth University, and the University of Virginia.
I ride a full-dress Harley Road king (police interceptor) and a csc Honda trike. i am a member of kappa
alpha psi fraternity, Tearwallet Baptist church and a pass Master of the Randolph Lodge Number 30,
Prince Hall Masons. I am a widower and I have one daughter and one grandson.
